My graphic information design degree was fundamentally about
the mapping and representation of information in relation to
user perception and communication. It taught me a
working philosophy to solve user-centered design problems.
The course allowed exploration through many different media,
from 2-d print to animation, in order to find the most appropriate
solution for the audience and context. I started to look towards
the computer as a communication tool, which led me to the
computer related design course at the RCA.
During my time at the RCA, I realised that design was no longer
just about tangible objects. It covered everything to do with
human activity. My craft developed with the study of more
functional and task based aspects of computers and technology.
I explored hand-held products, telecommunications,
entertainment and customer facing systems both conceptually
and through detailed design to better understand how the
interaction between people and technology may evolve. |
